Just had a wicked awesome Saturday at the PDX AHRMA event down at PIR. Saw a metric shit ton of Cretins floating around, and a couple complemented my Kawi so I figured I'd drop by to introduce myself.

My bike is a '77 KZ400 as the title states. I've had it going on 4 years and it's gone through a few stages of transformation in that time. My buddy Matt and I are just a coupld of guy who decided we'd dive into the vintage motorcycle scene and haven't looked back since. He rides a wicked little '75 Honda CL360 that was actually featured on Rocket Garage and BikeExif and like my bike it was built by the two of us in a small garage with little experience and little/no budget...founded-1992

Now I do have plenty of mechanical experience, just none on bikes before my Kawi as I went to school to become an automotive technician, so I certainly wasn't going in blind. I also learned a lot from cafe forums of different sorts, DoTheTon.com more then any other...

Alright, enough with the bullshit, onto the pictures eh?

Before:

Stage 1 (buddy Matt did these mods before I took ownership)

A little in process action:

Stage 2:

Third set of handle bars, less aggressive:

Stage 3 (bobbed fenders)

An idea that never came to be:

Finally on the road...

Custom homade exhaust using Cocktail shaker lids...

But they drug on corners...so then came the sexy Norton seamless peashooters I have today:

And I started commuting on it so clubmans went away and in came the super bike bars:

And lastly I hated the seat so I sold it and had local upholstery shop wrap up a new seat that I shaped:

And here's how she sits today:

No, I wish. I have family stuff hapening today...should be good times, but the AHRMA stuff was a blast...

You know it's pretty hilarious that in the last year and a half or so we've still never managed to meet in person Smile

Are you going to the Rose City Round up this year? I still want to catch the 550 in the flesh.

Yeah, it's funny; we keep managing to just miss each other. Tony Kic and I were there for a bit yesterday. We got a real late start so we only saw the last couple of races.

I was hoping to make a day of it today, but the wife was dropping some not so subtle hints that another day of fucking off could have an adverse effect on my marital status... Confused

Haha, no doubt, that's why I was on my way home by 3:30 (she was done shopping and ready for my return Very Happy )

I'd love to start heading out to meets and it seems the Portland scene is large enough to grow a Portland Chapter, eh?

Where do Thursdays typically happen?

Sweet. It'll likely be a bit later in the year before I can get out there that late. I'm deep out in west Hillsboro and that's a long cold ride after dark these days Smile

Are the only requirements a love for vintage bikes, pabst and punk?

If so, I'm in.

I've got an old Honda CJ360 (like a CB but kick start only with a 5spd gear box and front drum brake) that I've been bringing back from the dead. I've started planning/purchasing the parts needed for my cafe conversion, but it would be cool to bounce some ideas off some people who have done it before.

That, and I want an excuse to drink beer and talk bikes. My wife could care less about 'em.

You guys still meeting at the Press Club?

Edit: Sorry about the thread jack. That really is a sweet Yamaha
